Situated at the very bottom of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, Xflats Lodge has become one of the most popular destinations in the area for it’s rich fisheries in Chetumal Bay and the ocean side flats & reef systems. Established in 1982, Xflats Lodge combines the luxury of a resort without sacrificing it’s rustic beach front comfort and immediate access to world class fisheries. Whether you’re after trophy Permit, or want to chase Bonefish, Tarpon, Snook and more; there is something for all anglers!
The Caribbean coastline and Chetumal Bay is a picturesque and consistent flats fishery holding good numbers of the classic target species. Xflats focuses primarily on targeting Permit and Bonefish though anglers regularly have shots at Tarpon of all sizes, Snook, Barracuda, Jacks and more. Chetumal Bay is one of the most consistent fisheries for Permit and this area is one of the best opportunities to have regular shots at tailing or schooled fish both from the boat or on foot with their guide. Guides fish from traditional Mexcian style Pangas and each boat often hosts a seasoned guide and apprentice giving everyone the assistance and attention to make the most of their time on the water.
The Xflats is quiet, comfortable, relaxing and just steps from the remote beachfront which is visited by Bonefish & Permit daily. The lodge hosts 7 beachfront suites each with roomy patios, private bathrooms and living area looking toward the bay. Each air-conditioned room has two comfortable beds for two guests. The beachfront dining consists of outstanding and authentic cuisine featuring local Mayan specialties as well as a bar area perfect for kicking back and sharing stories after a long day on the flats.
Most clients will fly in/out of either Tulum or Cancun where they will be transferred by a shuttle and professional driver courtesy of the lodge (for Saturday arrivals/departures). The drive times are 2 hours from Tulum or 4.5 hours from Cancun. Opportunities for the right sized group also exist for a private charter flight from Cancun to Xcalak (not included). For non-Saturday arrivals/departures, shuttles can be arranged at an additional cost.
