On the southern side of Ascension Bay, Casa Blanca is situated right in the center of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, one of the largest protected marine areas and Unesco World Heritage Site. The remote setting and immediate access to one of Mexico’s premier grand slam fisheries makes Casa Blanca the perfect location to sight fish for a wide variety of saltwater species (including bonefish, permit & tarpon) and returning to a well established and comfortable angling paradise.
Ascension bay has long been one of the Yucutan’s most prolific fisheries and it’s location inside the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve continues to ensure it’s continued health. Sand flats, lagoon systems and rivers provide a variety of water to hunt the classic grand slam species as well as snook, barracuda, jacks, triggerfish and more! The location of the lodge allows anglers & guides immediate access to the bay on their 16-foot Dolphin Super-Skiffs and daily commutes can be anywhere from five minutes to over an hour to the most remote areas of the bay. Bonefish are plentiful and thriving numbers of Permit make Ascension Bay one of the best and most consistent places in the world to chase the “black tailed devils”. Resident Tarpon range from 20-70lbs. and migratory fish up to 150lbs. begin to arrive to the area as early as April. Guides are ready at the lodge’s dock each morning at 7am. While this is primarily a fishing focused destination, non-fishing activities inclue snorkling and kayaking the local waters, hiking and biking around the seemingly endless private beaches and coves, relaxation and massage or touring the Mayan ruins right there on the island!
On the northern tip of Punta Pajaros, Casa Blanca is remote though not disconnected. The lodge has ten rooms on the water overlooking the beautiful home flat, each with air conditioning, private bathrooms and ample storage. The cuisine at Casa Blanca is some of the best in the region and a blend of traditional Mayan and Yucatan cuisine with many more influences and dinners are fresh made from scratch three course meals on a rotating menu. The breakfasts are made to order and lunches are served buffet style each day with changing selections of sandwich makings, fish, fruits and salads.
Guests will fly to Cancun where they are greeted by a lodge representative and transferred to the lodge’s private air strip via an approximately 45 minute charter flight. The Casa Blanca Lodge airstrip is a quick ~3 minute boat transfer to the lodge allowing for an easy arrival with cold beverages waiting to ease you in.
