The intermediate/advanced fly tying class is designed for fly tiers who have taken the intro course, or for those who have been tying for a couple years and want to build upon their current technique repertoire. As with the intro class, the intermediate fly tying class is technique based and will build upon the basic techniques taught in the intro class. This class will go into tying articulated flies, tying smaller flies (size 20-26), spinning deer hair, creating complex dubbing loops and more. The specific flies for the class are variable and fly selection is heavily based on student requests. However we often tie some of the following: Rene Harrop's Last Chance Cripple, Kelly Galloup's Mini Dungeon, Darren Bowcutt's Green River Cicada, the Parachute Madam X (PMX) and Kaufmann's Stimulator. The class runs for 4 evenings of tying for 3 hours each night. All materials, tools, and vises can be provided if necessary. As with all fly tying classes at the shop, a live video stream of the instructors fly will allow for clear and detailed instruction while tying your favorite bugs. Additionally, we can discuss the best times and locations to fish the flies so that you are well prepared for the upcoming fishing season. If you have any questions, please call into the shop and talk with Kigen. The class fee is $150, maximum class size is 6 students, and you can call or come by the shop to get registered.
