Intro To Fly Tying Class
We've been teaching fly tying class here at Western Rivers since we opened our doors in 1987.  These classes are not only fun and entertaining, but we promise that should you emerse yourself in it, you will get more enjoyment from your valuable time on the water.  All of us at the shop are fly tiers, and although in this day and age it's not a necessity since commercial flies are so good, we do feel that when you learn to tie flies that the process will improve your success on the stream. This year Kigen Curtice will be teaching our Introductory Fly Tying Class. He feels, as do most of us at the shop, that this is one of the coolest parts of the entire fly-fishing experience; twisting up a tasty trout treat of your own creation or simply replicating one of your favorite patterns. Fly tying is fun, easy (mostly ;)), and is a great elixir when you aren't able to get out on the water.

This class will focus on basic tying skills, and each night we will add more elements to your tying repertoire. We will do a mix of different fly styles: dries, nymphs and streamers. Don’t be intimidated, this class will be focused on fun! The class is comprised of 4 separate sessions. We will provide all of the necessary tools and materials, but those who have their own tools and vises are encouraged to bring your own. The class is $125, with a 50% deposit is required to hold your spot. Just to name a few flies we might twist up, we will do an Egan’s Rainbow Warrior, a Partridge and Green soft hackle, Copper John, the Platte River Spider… You just never know! The last night of the class is Tiers Choice; if you have a favorite pattern you want to try, we will attempt it if possible. So you receive all the attention you'll need to maximize your experience, we limit the class to only 6 students.
